How did you end up at ASWA Keukens?
Through friends of ours! They live in Dordrecht and had a kitchen from ASWA themselves. They were so enthusiastic about it that they recommended we go and take a look as well. In addition, I regularly saw ASWA appear on social media, and their style really appealed to me. I wanted a hip, trendy kitchen, and with ASWA I could see that this was definitely possible.
Choosing a new kitchen, where do you start?
For our new kitchen, we had to make decisions quickly. We were told that we could buy this new build house, but many deadlines had already passed. This meant we had to make choices within a short period of time, including decisions about the kitchen. We were therefore looking for a kitchen company that could guide us well through this process.
We first visited another kitchen showroom to get inspiration, but quickly noticed that it lacked creativity. When we then walked into ASWA Keukens in Dordrecht, we found exactly what we were looking for!
We already had a fairly clear idea of what we wanted beforehand. We even had a whole Pinterest board ready. The Japandi style really appealed to me, and we wanted to carry this throughout the entire house. The kitchen therefore had to connect perfectly with that style.

How did the process from idea to final result go?
We had a number of specific wishes: a kitchen island and a large wall of cabinets. At other kitchen stores we were often told that this was not possible and that they thought too much in standard solutions. We felt that this was a waste of space. At ASWA, they did think in possibilities and truly thought along with us. As a result, we were ultimately able to realise our dream kitchen.
What I really appreciated is that at ASWA I could truly express my own creativity. We wanted wooden cabinets combined with a travertine worktop. In the showroom we looked at many different samples, but because we knew exactly what we wanted, we had very few doubts. The only thing we still hesitated about was whether we should make the wall of cabinets black. In the end, I am very happy that we chose wood after all.
We even went to the factory to see the worktop in real life. In addition, it was important for us to have plenty of workspace, so a separate sink area was a great addition.
In terms of design, we knew exactly what we wanted, but we left the practical side to ASWA. Think of the ideal placement of the fridge and freezer, and convenient walking routes in the kitchen. ASWA really thought this through very well!
What were your must haves in terms of appliances?
The two ovens were high on our wish list. We use them very often, and they are ideal when you want to prepare different dishes at the same time, especially when guests are coming over for dinner. In addition, we did not want an extractor hood above the cooktop, so the BORA cooktop was a logical choice. We also found it important to have a separate freezer and refrigerator, so that we have enough space in both. And of course, a wine climate cabinet could not be missed – that was truly a must for us!
What is your favourite spot in the kitchen?
Without a doubt, the bar area at the kitchen island! We sit there incredibly often, whether it is to work, enjoy drinks with friends or simply have a nice chat. It really is the heart of our kitchen.
