Do you use a BORA cooktop with recirculation? If so, an activated carbon filter ensures that cooking odors are filtered out of the extracted air before it flows back into the kitchen. Over time, this filter becomes saturated and must be replaced. How often this is necessary depends on the BORA system and the type of filter used. Replacement intervals range from 150 to 600 operating hours. Your BORA appliance tracks the usage time and notifies you when it’s time for a new filter.
When should you replace a BORA filter?
BORA uses different filters and air purification units. As a result, the replacement interval varies by appliance.
For the BORA Basic and BORA Pure series, the replacement interval is approximately 150 operating hours. For BORA Classic and Professional, this depends on the air purification unit used: approximately 300 or 600 operating hours. Other BORA appliances also use filters. The odor filter in the BORA X BO lasts approximately 150 operating hours. For the odor filters in BORA cooling systems, the replacement interval is approximately 150 operating hours or one year.
Of course, you don’t have to keep track of these hours yourself. The appliance will notify you when the filter needs to be replaced. On various BORA cooktop extraction systems, the letter F appears to indicate this. On the BORA Classic 2.0, FILT or E FILT may be displayed. The exact message you see and how to reset it after replacement varies by appliance. To do this, follow the instructions in the user manual for your BORA model.

In the BORA Pure series, the activated carbon filter is accessible through the opening in the cooktop. This allows you to replace the filter without having to disassemble the kitchen cabinetry. The filter you need depends on the exact model and version. The Pure series includes models such as the PUAKF, GFESP, and GFES. Therefore, always check your model before ordering a new filter. After installing a new filter, the filter indicator must be reset so that the system can start tracking the new filter’s service life again. The exact procedure varies by model. Replacing filters in other BORA appliances
With BORA Classic and Professional models, the air purification unit may be located under the cooktop or inside the kitchen cabinet. Depending on the system, a different air purification unit is used, and the replacement interval is approximately 300 or 600 operating hours. When replacing the filter, always follow the instructions specific to your system. The BORA X BO steam oven and BORA refrigeration appliances also use an odor filter. For the X BO, the service life is approximately 150 operating hours. For the refrigeration systems, it is approximately 150 operating hours or one year. Should you clean the BORA grease filter or replace the carbon filter?
The stainless steel grease filter and the activated carbon filter have different functions and therefore require different maintenance. The stainless steel grease filter captures grease particles from cooking fumes and can be cleaned. According to BORA, the grease filter and other removable parts of the cooktop extractor can be washed in the dishwasher. The activated carbon filter removes odors from the air in a recirculation system. This filter cannot be cleaned and must be replaced after the specified number of operating hours. Do you have a BORA system with an exhaust vent to the outside? In that case, cooking odors are vented outside, and an activated carbon filter for recirculation is not necessary.
