In this apartment in Amstelveen, one wish took center stage: a kitchen that doesn’t feel like a separate element, but blends seamlessly into the living space. The residents were looking for a place where cooking, working, and relaxing flow naturally into one another, without the space feeling cluttered. You can see that reflected in every choice. The calm color palette, clean lines, and smart layout create an interior where every function has its own place. From the coffee corner to the spacious kitchen island: everything is designed as part of a single whole.
A sense of calm through clean lines and smart layout
The kitchen consists of two cabinet walls and a spacious cooking island. The handle-less SieMatic SLX design creates a clean, linear aesthetic that extends throughout the entire space. Achat cabinet fronts are combined with Metallic Bronzé accents, creating subtle contrasts without disrupting the serene atmosphere.
All functions have been logically arranged. The coffee corner, refrigerator, freezer, ovens, and storage space are integrated into the cabinet walls. The island serves as the focal point of the kitchen, housing the cooktop and sink. This keeps the layout clear and ensures everything is within easy reach.

A home office that’s part of the kitchen
The desire for a home office was part of the design from the very beginning. Instead of a separate desk, the design team opted for a workspace that seamlessly integrates with the kitchen. The matching cabinet fronts, the continuous Dekton countertop, and the clean lines ensure that both functions feel like a single, cohesive whole.
The space above the workspace has also been used cleverly. The ceiling-mounted cabinets provide extra storage, while the integrated lighting offers pleasant task lighting without disrupting the design’s serene aesthetic. This creates a comfortable place to work, without the living space losing its open character.
Materials that enhance the space
A calm and timeless material palette was chosen for this kitchen. The SmartLaque cabinet fronts, together with the brushed Metallic Laminate, form a refined foundation. The Cosentino Dekton Daze countertop adds a subtle natural stone pattern that complements the light colors of the interior beautifully. The integrated lighting has also been carefully incorporated into the design. The distinctive SLX handle strip and the lighting under the wall cabinets emphasize the kitchen’s horizontal lines and give the space a warm, tranquil atmosphere in the evening.
A design that goes beyond the kitchen
The kitchen serves as the starting point for the rest of the interior. The soothing colors complement the floor, the furniture, and the window frames, naturally connecting the various spaces. Large windows let in plenty of natural light and enhance the apartment’s open character.
